Tattoo Aftercare

Tattoo Aftercare Advice Sheet

Keep the wrap applied by the artist on for a minimum of 2 hours. This is to stop the fresh tattoo being exposed to initial infection risk and to also gather any remaining fluid, blood and ink.

Be sure to wash your hands every time before and after touching your new tattoo. When the bandage is removed fill a sink with warm soapy water. Gently rub the water over the tattoo to remove all sticky fluid. Washing the tattoo should be done once a day or if any contact with dirt has occurred.

Pat dry with a clean tower. Do not re cover the tattoo unless discussed with artist first.
Do not rub the area with the towel as this will irritate the broken skin.

Avoid getting your tattoo too wet. When possible shower rather than bathe, as water saturation will make scabs gooey and more likely to break off too early. Swimming should also be avoided due to added risk of infection.

Apply Tattoo aftercare 2-3 times daily, using a small amount, spread thinly over entire area of the tattoo site.

We recommend bepanthem or cocoa butter if you’re using your own supplies. We have tattoo aftercare available to buy at the studio.

Try to wear loose clothing over the tattoo but also keep covered by clothing if you work in a dirty environment.

Avoid direct sunlight on the ink as UV is very damaging during the healing process.

Once the scabs have dried and flaked the skin will still be dry, at this point you may use a normal moisturiser. Coco butter is great for keeping tattoos dark and colourful.
